  8. Note: Only use this driver with GD7548 rev.CE and PCI/VLB bus.  Don't use
  9.       it if you have GD7548 rev.BD and PCI bus.

  43. QA Notes
  44. ========
  45.  
  46. -QA cannot verify any features that require interaction between the system 
  47.  BIOS and the VGA system. A full functional notebook system is required
  48.  to complete beta/production level testing.
  49.  
  50. -VPM is being tested using Pixel's TV-Tap as a client, attaching a tv indoor
  51.  antenna, & a video camcorder/player as sources of video input.  Another VPM
  52.  client, Margi's MPEG decoder, is also being used to test mpeg video playback.
  53.  The following resolutions, color depths & vertical refresh rates are
  54.  supported by the VPM Provider:

  68. -In some APM implementation, hot-key switching display may cause a blank 
  69.  panel screen.

  71. -In 800x600 64k colors, user is able to set new monitor refresh but the 
  72.  new refresh does not take effect.

  74. -Open DOS full screen, switching to SimulSCAN via CL Win95 Refresh utility, 
  75.  Alt-Tab to go to DOS full screen and Alt-Tab to go back to Windows Desktop, 
  76.  the display is corrupted. PDR#3580

  78. -Run DCT smoke (VFW AVI) test in SimulSCAN and it causes lcd to go blank
  79.  and CRT displays garbage. PDR#3582

  93. -Bandwidth corruption occurs when performing a video playback using

  96. -The video clip from Cinemania 95 will move out of its video window
  97.  after moving the application around the desktop.  PDR#3764

  99. -Winbench 96 causes the Panel display to blank out.  PDR#3612

  101. -If a windowed DOS prompt is open in any non-TV display mode, switching to
  102.  TV causes a display corrruption.

  104. -In some notebook systems, use hot-key to switch display when a DOS screen
  105.  is opened would blacken bottom part of screen.

  107. -Running the Win95 DCT Smoke All test causes the panel display to blank

  110. -Toggling between a windowed-DOS prompt & the desktop while performing a

  113. -CRT display shrinks & panel display blanks out when running Winstone 96.

  138. Win95 Driver limitation
  139. =======================
  140.  
  141. -In TV mode, open any application shows that bottom of the application is
  142.  chopped off because TV uses 640x400 resolution mode. 
  143.  
  144. -Switching from any non-TV display type to TV requires Win95 to restart.
  145.  This is by design.
  146.  
  147. -In TV mode, the Win95 logo screen got shifted down because TV uses 640x400
  148.  resolution mode.

  151. How to Install 754X Win95 Driver
  152. ================================
  153.  
  154. 1.  Click on the Start box in the lower left corner and proceed to Settings,
  155.     Control Panel.
  156. 2.  Inside the Control Panel group, click on the Display icon to open the
  157.     Display Properties folder and select the Settings tab (right most tab).
  158. 3.  Choose the "Change Display Type..." button and click the "Change..." 
  159.     button in the Adapter Type group.
  160. 4.  Select the "Have Disk..." button and then insert the 754X WIN95 Driver 
  161.     Installation diskette into the floppy drive A: or B: and proceed with 
  162.     OK button.
  163. 5.  "Cirrus Logic 754X (Cirrus)" will be highlighted for a VLB system or 
  164.     select "Cirrus Logic 754X PCI (Cirrus)" for PCI system.
  165. 6. Press OK and files are being copied from the diskette to your computer.
  166. 7. If a "Version Conflict" dialog box pops up and asks "Do you want to keep
  167.    this file?", answer "No".
  168. 8. Press Close again to exit Display Properties folder.
  169. 9. Select Yes to restart computer before the new driver will take effect.

  172. How to change colordepth
  173. ========================

  175. 1. Make sure you have installed the Cirrus Logic 754X Win 95' driver (see
  176.    How to Install 754X Win95 Driver section above).
  177. 2. Click on the Start box in the lower left corner and proceed to Settings,
  178.    Control Panel.
  179. 3. Inside the Control Panel group, click on the Display icon to open the
  180.    Display Properties folder and select the Settings tab.
  181. 4. Click on the pull-down arrow from the Color palette area to select color
  182.    depth.
  183. 5. Choose OK to restart Win95.

  185. How to change resolution
  186. ========================

  188. 1. Make sure you have installed the Cirrus Logic 754X Win 95' driver (see
  189.    How to Install 754X Win95 Driver section above).
  190. 2. Click on the Start box in the lower left corner and proceed to Settings,
  191.    Control Panel.
  192. 3. Inside the Control Panel group, click on the Display icon to open the
  193.    Display Properties folder and select the Settings tab.
  194. 4. Ajust the sliding bar either to Less or More from the Desktop area.
  195. 5. Choose OK and new resolution will take effect.

  198. How to change monitor refresh rate and display type
  199. ===================================================

  201. 1. Make sure you have installed the Cirrus Logic 754X Win 95' driver (see
  202.    How to Install 754X Win95 Driver section above).
  203. 2. Click on the Start box in the lower left corner and proceed to Settings,
  204.    Control Panel.
  205. 3. Inside the Control Panel group, click on the Display icon to open the
  206.    Display Properties folder and select the Refresh tab.
  207. 4. You can change to different refresh rates for different resolution and/or 
  208.    switching to different display type in the Active display area.
